bio
Xiaotian grew up in Xi'an, China. She started learning the piano guitar at a young age, and went to U.S. to study music therapy at the University of Kansas. During college, she started writing, arranging, and recording songs on her own.
Xiaotian’s music therapy work in hospice and palliative care profoundly shaped her world view. While helping people finding healing and meaning in the end of life, Xiaotian was confronted to find that of her own. She turned to music and arts and studied Creative Inquiry at California Institute of Integral Studies. There, she started bringing her own music therapy approach into songwriting and art-making. The project, trifles, is a culmination of such effort.
